DoorDash & Waymo Team Up: Self-Driving Taxis Revolutionize Food Delivery in the U.S.

October 20, 2025 – DoorDash, the largest food delivery platform in the United States, has forged a strategic partnership with Google’s Waymo to integrate Waymo’s self-driving taxis into its delivery network. This collaboration will initially cover an expansive 816-kilometer area within the Phoenix metropolitan region of Arizona.

Currently in the testing phase, the new feature allows local customers to opt for Waymo autonomous vehicle delivery when placing orders through DoorDash’s Autonomous Delivery Platform. Once notified of their order’s arrival, users can conveniently retrieve their meals from the vehicle’s trunk via the DoorDash mobile app.

DoorDash has already diversified its delivery ecosystem by incorporating various methods such as human couriers, delivery robots, drones, and now Waymo’s self-driving cars. However, at present, only DoorDash’s own in-house restaurants are eligible to utilize Waymo’s autonomous vehicles for meal deliveries. The company has announced plans to progressively expand this service to include more local merchants in the future.

In addition to enhancing its delivery capabilities, DoorDash has introduced an incentive program for DashPass subscribers. Members in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Phoenix can now avail themselves of monthly $10 discounts on Waymo self-driving taxi rides, aimed at promoting the adoption of autonomous transportation among its user base.
