May 27 2025 – Trek has unveiled its first-ever electric bicycle equipped with a throttle, the FX+ 1, marking a departure from its traditional focus on pedal-assist models. Priced at $1,999, the FX+ 1 is designed as a versatile e-bike suitable for urban commuting, casual rides, and light off-road adventures.
Powered by a 500W Hyena rear hub motor delivering 60 Nm of torque, the FX+ 1 excels on various terrains. Its integrated 540 Wh battery, UL-certified, offers a maximum range of up to 80km on a full charge. Riders can customize the top speed to either 32km/h or 45km/h, with the FX+ 1 available in two variants: the standard FX+ 1 supports pedal-assist and throttle acceleration up to 32km/h, while the FX+ 1S extends the pedal-assist range to 45km/h but keeps the throttle limit unchanged.

The FX+ 1 features a lightweight aluminum frame, available in mid-step and high-step configurations to accommodate riders ranging from 155cm to 198cm in height. Equipped with 27.5-inch wheels and 50mm-wide Bontrager GR0 tires, it balances efficiency on paved roads with capability on gravel and other rough surfaces.
For safety and convenience, the bike comes standard with front and rear lights that include brake lights and turn signals. Even when the battery is completely drained, the lights remain operational for up to three hours.
Additional features include an 8-speed Shimano ESSA transmission system, 180mm hydraulic disc brakes, and mounting points for a rack and fenders, making it ideal for daily commuting and shopping trips.
Trek has also introduced a new EasyMag magnetic charger for the FX+ 1, featuring a wall-mountable design and LED indicators. A full charge takes approximately 5.5 hours.
