February 27, 2026 – As automotive companies around the world release their financial reports, the 2025 global auto sales rankings have finally been unveiled, with Toyota maintaining a significant lead and showing no signs of being dethroned anytime soon.
Looking at the list, Toyota, Volkswagen, Hyundai Motor, and General Motors continue to hold the top four positions. Stellantis Group, with sales exceeding 5.4 million vehicles, remains firmly in fifth place globally.

For Chinese automakers, there’s still a considerable gap to bridge before they can break into the top five. BYD, the highest-ranked Chinese company, trails Stellantis by more than 800,000 units.
In terms of Japanese automakers, while Toyota sits comfortably at the top, Honda and Nissan are struggling to keep pace. Nissan has fallen out of the top ten, and Honda is teetering on the edge of doing the same.
