Tesla Model Y Achieves World’s First Fully Autonomous Delivery Without Human Control, Musk Reveals

June 28, 2025 – In a groundbreaking announcement made early this morning on the X platform, Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, revealed that “the first Tesla Model Y has successfully completed a fully autonomous delivery journey from the factory straight to a customer’s doorstep, including high-speed road segments, and it even arrived a day ahead of schedule!”

Musk went on to share some intriguing details about this milestone. The vehicle navigated the entire route without any human presence inside and without remote control, marking what he described as “true full self-driving capability.” “To the best of our knowledge, this is the world’s first instance of a car achieving autonomous driving on public highways without an onboard human or remote supervision,” he emphasized.

Earlier reports had hinted at Tesla’s quiet deployment of a new feature for its latest Model Y and Cybertruck models produced at the Austin, Texas, Gigafactory. This feature allows the vehicles to autonomously move from the production line to the delivery parking lot without supervision, a move aimed at reducing labor costs and showcasing the company’s commitment to advancing its autonomous taxi fleet.
