April 30, 2025 – Yesterday, the YouTube channel AppleTrack unveiled a video featuring a collection of iPhone 17 series mockups, offering a detailed side-by-side comparison with the iPhone 16 lineup.

According to the mockups showcased in the video, the iPhone 17 Air sports a distinctive “horizontal runway” design, measuring an incredibly slender 5.5mm to 5.6mm in thickness. This makes it significantly thinner than the iPhone 16 Pro, which boasts a thickness of 8.25mm. However, the pursuit of such a thin profile has necessitated certain design compromises. The USB-C port, for instance, is not centered vertically but is instead positioned closer to the back of the device. Additionally, the number of speaker grilles has been reduced compared to the iPhone 16.

As for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, the mockups suggest that their overall aesthetic remains similar to that of the iPhone 16 Pro. Nevertheless, the standout feature of these models is the redesigned rear “camera bar.” The mockups, constructed from a back panel and a midframe, do not yet incorporate the rumored unibody design combining glass and metal, which is said to enable reverse wireless charging capabilities.

While it’s important to note that these mockups may not perfectly mirror the final prototypes, their consistent design elements, when combined with leaked CAD files and 3D renders, have led AppleTrack to rate their credibility as “Possible.”
