Chery’s March Triumph: 240,000 Units Sold, Nearly 150,000 Exports Set New Chinese Auto Record

April 2, 2026 – On the first day of April, Chery Group unveiled its latest sales figures, revealing a remarkable performance in the automotive market. In March, the company sold a total of 240,678 vehicles, while its cumulative sales for the first quarter reached 602,000 units.

Notably, Chery Group’s new – energy vehicle sales stood at 70,106 units in March, marking a year – on – year increase of 12.8%. This growth reflects the growing popularity of its eco – friendly models among consumers.

Another highlight is the company’s export performance. In March, Chery Group exported 148,777 vehicles, a significant 72% jump compared to the same period last year. This export volume has set a new record for Chinese automobiles, and for 11 consecutive months, the company has managed to export over 100,000 vehicles in a single month.

Chery Group’s global influence continues to expand. Its cumulative global user base has now surpassed 19 million, with 6.23 million of them being overseas customers. This solidifies its position as the top Chinese automaker in terms of exports.

Towards the end of March, Chery made a significant move at the South Africa Investor Conference. It announced the launch of a local production and manufacturing investment project in South Africa. The first model is expected to roll off the production line in mid – 2027, which will further strengthen its presence in the African market.
