March 16, 2026 – According to a report from Lianhe Zaobao, Li Ke, the Executive Vice President of BYD, revealed that the company’s Brazilian plant has secured export orders for a total of 100,000 vehicles from Argentina and Mexico.
On March 13 (local time), Li Ke disclosed this news at an event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She stated that both Argentina and Mexico had placed orders for 50,000 vehicles each.

When introducing the situation of BYD’s Brazilian plant, Li Ke mentioned that the Camacari plant, located in Bahia State in northeastern Brazil, has an annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles. In the future, it will increase production in stages to reach an annual output of 600,000 vehicles. The plant will manufacture a variety of pure electric and plug-in hybrid models, including the Dolphin Mini (Seagull), BYD King (Qin), and BYD Song Pro, among others.
Data released by the Brazilian National Federation of Automobile Dealers shows that BYD sold approximately 113,000 vehicles in Brazil last year, making it the largest sales volume outside the Chinese market.
On the same day, Li Ke also announced that BYD would invest 300 million Brazilian reais to build a research center in Rio de Janeiro. Construction is expected to start this year and be completed in 2028. The center will be equipped with facilities to test vehicle speed, power, endurance, and performance. Additionally, it will generate tropical climate data, which will help BYD develop new products and adapt technologies for the local market.
