May 19 2025 – As reported by the Associated Press on the 16th, attendees and VIPs at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics will have the chance to take to the skies for the first time, using air taxis to reach the competition venues.
Archer Aviation’s electric air taxi, named “Midnight,” will take off from vertical takeoff and landing sites near several venues. Capable of carrying up to four passengers, these taxis will offer flights lasting between 10 and 20 minutes, connecting to various areas across Los Angeles’s transportation network.
The aerial transportation network will encompass key locations such as SoFi Stadium in Inglewood and the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in downtown South Los Angeles, which are set to host the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics. Additionally, stops will include Los Angeles International Airport, Hollywood, Santa Monica, and Orange County.

Adam Goldstein, CEO and founder of Archer Aviation, commented, “We aim to revolutionize transportation in Los Angeles and leave a lasting legacy for the future of American transportation. There’s no better occasion than the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics to achieve this.”
Archer highlighted that the air taxi produces significantly less noise and emissions compared to traditional helicopters. This eVTOL aircraft is equipped with a redundant fault-tolerant system, featuring 12 engines and propellers, enabling it to meet safety standards similar to those of commercial flights. It is expected to receive certification from the Federal Aviation Administration. These air taxis will be manufactured at Archer’s facilities in San Jose, California, and Covington, Georgia.
As the official service provider for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, Paralympics, and Team USA, Archer will also leverage air taxis to support emergency services and security operations.
Casey Wasserman, the Chairman of the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are committed to reimagining the Olympic and Paralympic experience. This collaboration presents an unprecedented opportunity.”
