Warner Bros. Discovery Unveils Top – Tier Leadership for Next Year’s Two – Company Split

July 30, 2025 – Warner Bros. Discovery made a major announcement today, revealing its intention to split into two separate entities, Warner Bros. and Discover Global, through a tax – free transaction in 2026.

The company outlined its leadership arrangements for the upcoming split in the announcement. The split, set to be finalized next year, is designed to enable each new company to focus more effectively on its specific business areas and enhance operational efficiency.

After the separation, Warner Bros. will house its streaming and production divisions. This includes well – known brands such as HBO, Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, and DC Studios. These brands have a significant presence in the film and television production as well as streaming service markets, giving them a strong competitive edge.

On the other hand, Discover Global will encompass the global network division. It will own CNN, TNT Sports, and the Discovery + streaming service. These businesses span across various fields like news, sports, and entertainment, reaching a vast and diverse audience.

According to a blog post, the current CEO, David Zaslav, will take on the role of CEO for Warner Bros., continuing to lead this business segment. Meanwhile, the CFO, Gunnar Wiedenfels, will become the CEO of Discover Global, overseeing its operations.

Fraser Woodford has been named as the CFO of Discover Global, while Warner Bros. is currently in the process of searching for a new CFO. Additionally, Pam Abdy and Mike De Luca will jointly serve as the co – chairmen and co – CEOs of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group.
