June 7, 2025 – Over two years after Qualcomm initially announced its intention to acquire V2X vehicle-to-everything communication chip firm Autotalks through its subsidiary Qualcomm Technologies on May 8, 2023, the deal has finally been finalized.
Back in March 2024, Reuters reported that Qualcomm had abandoned the acquisition of Autotalks due to delays in obtaining the necessary approvals from external regulatory bodies. It appears that Qualcomm has since managed to address the concerns raised by regulatory authorities regarding the concentration of operators in the V2X communication sector.

According to Qualcomm, with this acquisition, automakers and the broader automotive ecosystem will gain access to a comprehensive suite of global V2X solutions. These solutions are ready for production, have passed automotive certifications, and can be deployed in roadside infrastructure, vehicles, and two-wheelers.
The primary objective of these solutions is to enable direct communication, which will help tackle existing safety and efficiency challenges. Additionally, they will enhance the development of advanced safety features and premium experiences for next-generation vehicles in the realms of assisted and autonomous driving.
Autotalks’ products will be integrated into Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Digital Chassis portfolio. The company has also assured that ongoing DSRC and C-V2X projects will continue to receive support.
