December 10, 2025 – According to a report from TechCrunch, NVIDIA’s cutting – edge AI chips are set to make a comeback in the Chinese market, and the company has issued an official response regarding this development.
The U.S. Department of Commerce has given the green light for NVIDIA to export its H200 chips to approved customers in China. In an interesting twist, the U.S. government will take a 25% cut from these sales. This decision was announced by former U.S. President Trump on his social media platform.

An NVIDIA spokesperson commented on this progress to TechCrunch, stating, “We are grateful for President Trump’s decision. This move enables the U.S. chip industry to stay competitive, which in turn supports high – paying jobs and the manufacturing sector in the United States. The government’s approval for NVIDIA to supply H200 chips to commercial clients that have passed the Department of Commerce’s review represents a well – thought – out balance that benefits all parties involved and is highly advantageous for the U.S.”
Just last week, NVIDIA’s CEO Jensen Huang had a meeting with Trump at the White House. The main topic of discussion was export control issues. Although Huang didn’t reveal any details at the time, it is widely speculated that he lobbied Trump during the meeting.
