May 28 2025 – Microsoft has officially unveiled the launch of its first cloud data center in Indonesia, named “Indonesia Central,” which is now fully operational. This marks the tech giant’s second data center cluster in Southeast Asia, following its initial deployment in Singapore.
Situated in the province of West Java (Provinsi Jawa Barat), the facility comprises three distinct availability zones, each equipped with independent power, cooling, and networking systems. This design ensures robust emergency recovery capabilities, safeguarding against potential disruptions.

Scott Guthrie, Executive Vice President of Microsoft Cloud & AI, emphasized Indonesia’s strategic significance within Microsoft’s global cloud strategy. He highlighted that the new cloud data center will bolster the Azure AI Foundry platform, offering developers access to cutting-edge AI tools, datasets, and high-performance infrastructure to drive local innovation.
Meutya Hafid, Indonesia’s Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, described the initiative as more than just an infrastructure deployment—it represents a long-term commitment to Indonesia’s digital economy. She projected that the project would generate $2.5 billion in economic impact for Indonesia’s digital backbone over the next four years.
