June 18, 2025 – Tesla has yet to integrate its AI assistant, Grok, into its vehicles, but hidden within firmware code are hints of a more immersive and interactive experience on the horizon. CEO Elon Musk hinted months ago that Grok would soon make its way into Tesla cars, and with the company’s planned rollout of the Robotaxi platform in the near future, the AI assistant’s debut seems imminent.

A closer look at the firmware, analyzed by the well-known Tesla hacker “green,” reveals that Tesla is working on multiple versions of Grok, each with distinct, fully customizable “personalities.” These personalities can be tailored to suit individual drivers’ preferences, promising a more lifelike and engaging interaction. Additionally, Tesla is reportedly developing a kid-friendly version of Grok, equipped with features like storytelling and trivia games.
During a live stream on X in January, Musk remarked, “You’ll be able to talk to your Tesla and ask it anything,” suggesting that Grok’s capabilities will be virtually limitless.
However, there’s a catch. According to “green,” Grok appears to be designed exclusively for Tesla vehicles powered by AMD chips. This means that older Tesla models, which typically use Intel chips, won’t be able to support Grok’s features for the time being.
