Sergey Brin Reveals: Using Gemini Live on Commute, More Powerful Version on the Horizon

December 17, 2025 – Sergey Brin, the co – founder of Google, has been actively testing Google’s AI products during his daily commutes. After stepping down as the president of Alphabet in 2019, Brin has re – engaged in the company’s AI R & D efforts in recent years, taking the lead in advancing the Gemini project.

During a panel discussion at Stanford University last week, when asked by an audience member about how he keeps his mind sharp and what podcasts he listens to in the car, Brin shared his unique commuting habit. “I often have conversations with Gemini Live in the car. I chat about all sorts of things while driving,” he said.

He gave an example of a question he posed to Gemini Live during a drive. “I’m planning to build a data center. I want to know how many megawatts of different types of power are needed and what the approximate total cost will be.”

Gemini Live is a voice – interactive AI chatbot launched by Google. The company first demonstrated this product at the Google I/O Developer Conference in May 2024 and made it freely available to users in September of the same year.

For those who are keen on chatting with intelligent assistants while driving, Brin offered some advice. “Don’t rush to use it now because we have a much better version coming soon.” He explained that the currently publicly available version is not perfect. “Give me a few more weeks, and I’ll officially roll out the version I’m using.”

Brin also mentioned that the current Gemini Live is based on an “old – fashioned model.”

Google’s recent model updates have made quite a splash in the AI field. In November, the company released Gemini 3. According to Google, this model has stronger visual processing capabilities and is the model with the “highest factual accuracy rate” so far.

Gemini 3 is also Google’s first model that was directly integrated into Google Search on the day of its release. Users don’t need to switch to other independent apps or websites. They can immediately use the model by simply clicking on the “AI mode.”

At the panel discussion, Brin also admitted that his answer to the question about what he does while driving “sounded a bit like self – promotion.” He said that he also listens to some podcasts. “The show hosted by the hosts of ‘All In’ is actually one of my favorite podcasts.” Notably, Brin has appeared as a guest on this podcast multiple times.
