November 26, 2025 – OpenAI made a significant announcement yesterday (November 25) regarding its well – known ChatGPT. The company revealed that it has now integrated the “Voice Mode” into the main chat interface of ChatGPT.
Previously, the voice – based conversation function was a separate module. But with this new integration, users no longer need to switch between different modes. Instead, they can directly initiate voice interactions within the main chat window, enabling a more seamless and feature – rich multimodal experience.

One of the most remarkable features of the updated voice mode is its ability to present visual information. As demonstrated by OpenAI, when a user asks a question using voice, ChatGPT not only responds with a natural and fluent voice but also displays relevant visual content such as maps, charts, or images in real – time on the chat interface. Moreover, the system automatically generates transcripts of the voice conversations, allowing users to easily review and refer back to the communication content at any time.
Taking into account the diverse usage habits of different users, OpenAI has also provided an option in this update. For those who prefer a pure audio – based immersive conversation experience, a toggle switch has been added to the settings menu of the application. With a single click on this switch, users can revert the interface to the old independent voice mode.
This move is part of OpenAI’s ongoing strategic layout to continuously iterate its products and expand the boundaries of AI applications. Prior to this, the company has already launched a series of innovative features and products. For instance, it introduced an AI shopping assistant for product price comparison, added a new Atlas AI browser feature that supports iCloud keychain, rolled out a group chat function in some regions, and released the more powerful GPT – 5.1 model.
