OpenAI Unveils UAE as Stargate’s Maiden International Hub, Hints at Asia-Pacific Push

May 23 2025 – A groundbreaking collaboration was unveiled today among tech giants G42, OpenAI, Oracle, NVIDIA, SoftBank, and Cisco to establish “Stargate UAE,” marking the first international deployment of OpenAI’s Stargate AI infrastructure platform.

This initiative, the inaugural project under the “OpenAI for Countries” partnership program, will see OpenAI team up with G42 to construct a 1GW Stargate UAE cluster within the newly launched UAE–U.S. AI Campus in Abu Dhabi. G42 is taking the lead on construction, while OpenAI and Oracle will manage operations. Cisco will contribute by delivering zero-trust security and AI-ready connectivity solutions, and NVIDIA will supply its cutting-edge Grace Blackwell GB300 systems.

The initial phase, a 200-megawatt AI cluster, is slated to become operational by 2026. As part of the investment collaboration, G42 has announced plans to make equivalent investments in AI infrastructure in the United States.

In parallel developments, OpenAI revealed that it has already initiated discussions with other countries worldwide interested in establishing their own “Stargate” facilities. Starting next week, OpenAI’s Chief Strategy Officer, Jason Kwon, will embark on a tour of the Asia-Pacific region to engage with governments and potential private sector partners. The aim is to explore opportunities for building AI infrastructure and delivering AI services tailored to.
