In the job description for a Hardware System Product Designer, OpenAI made it clear that they are on the hunt for talent to help build what they call “the next generation of the world’s most innovative mobile devices.” This role demands candidates with strong mechanical design skills and expertise in areas such as Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and tolerance and dimensional design. Additionally, experience with component modules, including OLED/LCD displays, batteries, acoustics, camera modules, as well as cellular and GPS systems, is highly sought after.
OpenAI is also seeking candidates for an Electrical Engineering Design position, targeting individuals with specialized knowledge in board-level and system-level design to support the development, layout, startup, and validation of custom electronic products.
Moreover, the company is on the lookout for an electrical engineer with expertise in power transmission to “design and optimize next-generation charging technologies for high-performance hardware products.” This role could potentially involve the creation of a wireless charging platform for upcoming hardware devices.
