June 5, 2025 – During an online live – stream event held yesterday, OpenAI made a significant announcement: its global count of paid business subscribers has surpassed the 3 – million mark.
OpenAI has been steadily expanding its commercial product lineup. It rolled out ChatGPT Enterprise in August 2023, followed by ChatGPT Team in January 2024, and then ChatGPT Edu in May 2024. In September 2024, the company revealed that its paid business user base had crossed the 1 – million threshold.
By February 2025, OpenAI saw its paid business user numbers climb to over 2 million. And now, in less than four months, it has managed to add another 1 million paid business users, pushing the total above 3 million.
In an interview with CNBC, Brad Lightcap, the Chief Operating Officer of OpenAI, confirmed the same figures. He also highlighted that the company’s business – oriented tools are being widely adopted across various industries, including financial services and healthcare.
