March 25, 2026 – Mercedes – Benz China has recently announced its brand – new progress in industry – academia – research collaboration. It is teaming up with Tsinghua University and Zhipu to incorporate multi – modal large model technology into the upcoming Mercedes – Maybach S – Class sedan.
This initiative is a product of close cooperation between the R & D division of Mercedes – Benz China, Tsinghua University, and Zhipu. They have worked hand – in – hand to create an exclusive on – board multi – modal large model for Mercedes – Benz. This achievement positions Mercedes – Benz as the pioneer in integrating multi – modal large models into the rear – seat entertainment systems of automobiles.
Powered by the multi – modal large model technology, the premium rear – seat entertainment system of the new – generation Mercedes – Benz S – Class sedan will merge natural language processing with multi – modal comprehension and generation abilities in visual and audio domains. Utilizing in – vehicle cameras and other sensing equipment, it will offer passengers a more intelligent, user – friendly, and emotionally engaging immersive interaction experience.
