January 9, 2026 – Elon Musk took to X platform yesterday (January 8) to make an exciting announcement. He revealed that xAI is set to upgrade Grok Code next month, enabling it to handle multiple complex programming tasks in one go.
According to a blog post published by tech media outlet BleepingComputer on the same day (January 8), the crux of this upgrade lies in the concept of “One – shot”. This implies that developers won’t have to engage in multiple rounds of conversation or constant debugging. Instead, by providing a single set of detailed instructions, the AI can generate a complete and functional complex code solution. This innovation is expected to significantly boost developers’ productivity.
The media report also suggests that xAI is highly likely to introduce a new tool called “Grok Build” as part of this upgrade. This is regarded as xAI’s first “Vibe Coding” solution.
“Vibe Coding” has become a popular tech – circle slang recently. It generally refers to a smooth programming state where large language models (LLMs) are used. Developers collaborate with the AI, giving it instructions more based on intuition rather than getting stuck on grammar details. Google AI Studio offers such an immersive interactive experience.
Given that Musk has previously praised Google’s AI achievements, the general consensus is that xAI is attempting to replicate the interaction mode of Google AI Studio. The new tool is likely to feature a command – line interface (CLI) and is projected to be available to users as early as next month, aiming to make the programming process more seamless and intuitive.
