ASML Commits to Acquiring Stake in Mistral, Set to Become Largest Shareholder

September 8, 2025 – According to a Reuters report on the 7th local time, during the latest Series C funding round of French AI startup Mistral, the photolithography equipment giant ASML has pledged to be the lead investor and is set to become Mistral AI’s largest shareholder.

As per Reuters’ information, prior to this funding round, Mistral was valued at 10 billion euros. The company aimed to raise 1.7 billion euros in this round, with ASML contributing a substantial 1.3 billion euros. Moreover, ASML is also expected to secure a seat on Mistral’s board of directors.

For Mistral, the capital from a significant European investor like ASML is undoubtedly a crucial pillar for advancing the development of Europe’s independent AI capabilities. On the other hand, for ASML, Mistral’s AI technology is anticipated to be a driving force in enhancing the performance of its semiconductor equipment and speeding up the development of new devices.
