December 8, 2025 – In a recent interview with Wired magazine last week (December 4), AMD CEO Lisa Su engaged in an in – depth discussion about the future of the AI industry with host Lauren Goode.
When Goode inquired whether the tech sector was in the midst of an “AI bubble,” Su firmly stated, “From my perspective, absolutely not. The AI industry will require a massive amount of chips from companies like AMD in the future. The current concerns about a ‘bubble’ are somewhat overblown.”

Su’s bold statement is in line with her well – known personal style. Since taking over as AMD’s CEO in 2014, she has achieved remarkable feats. Under her leadership, the company’s market value has soared from 2billionto300 billion. Moreover, she introduced the Zen architecture processors, which replaced the previously poorly – regarded Bulldozer architecture.
It’s worth noting that AMD inked a significant cooperation agreement with OpenAI earlier this year. As part of the deal, OpenAI will deploy AMD Instinct GPUs with a capacity of 6 gigawatts (GW). Additionally, AMD has granted OpenAI the right to purchase 160 million AMD shares at a price of just 1 cent per share, effectively giving OpenAI around a 10% stake in the company.
When it comes to competitors like Nvidia, Su expressed no worries. She also didn’t seem concerned about internet giants such as Google and Amazon, which are developing their own chips. She explained, “The real question that keeps me up at night is: How can we innovate faster?”
However, Su also acknowledged that AI is still in its “infancy,” and AMD must be well – prepared with more chips for the future.
