Gemini App Hits 900 Million Monthly Users as AI Overviews Become the World’s Most-Used Search Feature

June 4, 2026 – Alphabet released an investor presentation on June 3 (local time) that showcased explosive growth across its AI portfolio. The Gemini App has now surpassed 900 million monthly active users — more than doubling in just one year. Meanwhile, AI Overviews in Google Search have reached 2.5 billion monthly active users, covering over 30% of the global population and claiming the largest user base of any AI-powered search feature in the world.

The Gemini App currently powers 13 Alphabet products that each exceed 1 billion users. Among them, five — Google Search, Gmail, Android, Chrome, and YouTube — have all crossed the 3 billion user mark.

On the cost side, Alphabet reported that since the launch of Gemini 3, advances in both hardware and engineering have driven core AI inference costs down by more than 30%.

Looking ahead, the company said it expects to roll out the Gemini 3.5 Pro model later this month. Last month’s Google I/O developer conference saw the debut of Gemini 3.5 Flash, which already outperformed Gemini 3.1 Pro on several benchmark tests.
