February 27, 2026 – In a surprising turn of events, Toby Bolen, one of the co – founders of Elon Musk’s xAI, has announced his departure from the company.
Over a period of less than three years, the exodus of co – founders from xAI has been quite significant. Out of the original 12 co – founders, 7 have now officially left the firm.
Bolen took to the X platform to share the news. He stated that today marked his final day at xAI. He didn’t hold back in praising his team, saying, “You guys are amazing. No one can pull all – nighters like you.”
After leaving the company, Bolen has clear plans for the immediate future. He intends to take a well – deserved break and catch up on some much – needed sleep, aiming for more than 8 hours of rest. He also plans to spend time contemplating his next career move. Additionally, he expressed his gratitude towards Musk for giving him the opportunity to be part of the xAI team.
In response, Musk extended his thanks to Bolen, acknowledging his contribution in helping xAI reach its current stage of development.
