November 29, 2025 – Apple is making significant progress in developing multiple crucial product lines, and Samsung is taking on an increasingly pivotal role in this process. Notably, a foldable iPhone Fold, set to be unveiled alongside the iPhone 18 series, is in the pipeline, and Samsung’s influence is growing as more Apple devices are expected to incorporate its technologies.
According to a report from South Korean media outlet The Elec today, Samsung Display has made substantial organizational changes to better meet Apple’s demands. The research and development (R&D) and sales teams, which were previously integrated within the “A Division,” have been restructured. The A-Development Team has been elevated to the A-Development Office, while the sales team has been transferred to the strategic marketing department. Moreover, the “M Business-Commercialization Team,” which had been focusing on micro-displays for AR headsets, has been spun off into a new business unit.

These strategic moves all point to a single objective: strengthening collaboration with Apple. Currently, Samsung is the largest OLED supplier for the iPhone 17 series, and this trend is expected to continue with the iPhone 18 series.
The scope of cooperation between Samsung and Apple is not limited to smartphones. MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, the upcoming iPad mini 8, and future iPad Air models all rely on Samsung for OLED panels. Samsung has already established a production line capable of manufacturing 10 million OLED panels annually, which is sufficient to support Apple’s design updates for the new M6 Pro and M6 Max MacBook Pro models. These updates include a thinner body, a notch-free screen, and an enhanced hinge that supports touch functionality.
The new display solution is also set to debut on the iPad mini 8 next year, with Samsung expected to supply Apple with 3 million OLED panels. The transition to OLED for the iPad Air is anticipated to be completed by 2028. As Apple’s display requirements for a large number of new products are closely tied to Samsung, this is the fundamental reason behind Samsung’s proactive expansion of its teams.
